Cognitive Dissonance on Steroids

Andrea Yates, mother of 5 children, lived in a Houston, Texas suburb. On June 20th, 2001 she drowned all five of them in her bathtub; Noah, 7, John, 5, Paul, 3 Luke, 2, and Mary, 6 months. Noah, the oldest, gave her the most difficulty. He caught on to what she was doing when he discovered her drowning his 6 month old sister. She admitted to having to chase him through the house and drag him back to the bathroom to meet his death.

The entire nation was shocked when the story hit the news.

Imagine for a moment that Andrea Yates was your neighbor. How likely do you think it would be that you would turn to her for advice on raising your own children? Why do you suppose Christians turn to their god every day for advice on raising children, knowing full well that he drowned all but eight of his own?

Good point. My answer is that our scriptures were composed as fables of middle-east events of floods, cruel kings, and a lack of knowledge of our universe. Floods happen on a regular basis killing people.(Why?) Warm moist air condenses when coming into contact with cooler air. Too much rain overflows a small restricted area with the powerful force of water destroying everything in its path including people. People kill others on a daily basis. (Why?) There are various reasons for individuals doing so such as revenge, to acquire property, get rid of a spouse and accidents, and powerful kings, presidents, and Popes who want to destroy those who disagree with them. The bible is filled with examples. They always excused themselves for killing innocent men, women, children and animals by saying that a god told them to do it. So, who was responsible for have these stories told and recorded for history? You guessed it. The people who did the killing. Our bible doesn't say that a god or Jesus ever wrote a word of it. We simply have people wanting us to believe a god (our God) ordered these horrible acts. We now have judges and courts to examine these claims. Based on our judicial system, none of the bible claims would hold up in our courts. The judge simply has to disallow such claims since the bible is a book of faith. "The substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" Heb. 11:1 KJV
There is NO evidence to be seen. In other words, no evidence to support these claims. Case closed!
