God works in mysterious ways.
According to UNICEF 10.9 million children under the age of five die each year. 60 percent, or over 6 ½ million, die of complications due to malnutrition. In other words, they starve to death.
Believers tell us that God thinks it is a grievous sin to abort a blastocyst, a collection of cells that would fit comfortably inside the eye of a Roosevelt dime. Much better to allow the cells to develop into a human and then let it slowly starve to death by the age of 5, which they are doing at the rate of over 12 deaths per minute.
To put that fact into proper context consider this. If you have average reading skills, by the time you finish reading this comment, 12 children under 5 years old will have died of starvation, while another 5 will have succumbed to drowning, choking, accidents and disease. And these are just the children under 5.
Of course God, being omniscient, knew all along what was in store for that little blastocyst. But unlike the dreadful sinners who would send this little soul to heaven without it having to go through the misery of starving and debilitating disease, our heavenly father decided to let it be born into a world of abject misery where it will suffer intolerably for several years.
Then kill it.
Yep. God works in mysterious ways.
